Bowl of Dust & Co. are bringing their adventurous, folkedelic, sounds to the Green Room this Thursday, and looking glass is super happy to have ’em! In advance of the show, Dandelion Lakewood took a few minutes to talk influences and favorites.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Beck, Animal Collective, Nirvana, 90s Rave, The Microphones, Bjork, the local music in Chicago!
What is some music worth sharing? Something new? Local favorites?
So many great local bands in Chicago!
Laughing Eye, Weeping Eye – eerie mystic chants channeled medieval style
The Humminbird – unhinged acid folk songstress with rotating cast of support
Columba Fasciata – lounge music for the low key basement types
Rasplyn – epic arrangements of gothic splendor
Famous Laughs – introspective and poetic rock n roll
Potions – bubbling acid house MIDI orchestra
Vehicle Blues – if wiping out on your bike felt like landing on a soft mattress
ADT – chaotic lunacy free jazz unit
Detroit’s ZZZtapes just released their album, Fox with Horns and Antlers, on cassette. Of the tape, ninehertz said “The vocals are what keep your attention, twisted and quirky and with a playful sense of wonder in evidence it certainly takes you to warmer climes… If you want to lose yourself in sound for a while, this is certainly a record to spin.” Check out the music below, and click HERE to read ninehertz’s full review.
