Want to kick things off with a huge thanks to Karissa Talanian of Eye Vybe Records for including Looking Glass Projects as one of her three recommendations in the Chicago Reader. Hailed as a “new online mecca for Chicago underground music,” she also gives a shout-out to our a Facebook group that helps reconnect musicians with gear lost or stolen in Chicago.

“Anyone looking for something to do on a Friday night, hunting for info on local labels, or trying to find a cool new band to round out a bill should absolutely check this site out. “

The interview was part of the Reader’s regular feature “Kevin is curious what’s in the rotation of . . .” LGP was one of three highlights, alongside Japan’s Kikagaku Moyo and locals the Velcro Lewis Group. Check out Eye Vybe HERE, and the whole feature article HERE.

Recommended Show of the Day

With so many great shows every night in Chicago, the least we can do is call out one we think you should check out. Today’s recommendation comes from Tracy:

“This is our second showcase ever, and first at The Whistler! Definitely a favorite venue in town, always FREE and great drinks, plus a killer line-up. Secret Science will definitely get the vibe started right with their high-energy rock noise, followed by a band who seemingly bleeds summer sounds, Impulsive Hearts.”

About our showcases: Showcases are weekday shows featuring Chicago bands with the goal of encouraging our city to come out and support the scene. They’re hosted at various venues we love, today including The Burlington and The Whistler. As always, our shows are never more than $5, and sometimes even FREE. This city provides quality music every night, and the more we support bands and venues throughout the week, the more we fuel our city’s growth. Come on out!
