Glitter Creeps often recorded the bands playing their Rock/Punk/Experimental/Whatever queer nights every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Bottle. Unfortunately, the live recording portion of the shindigs is being retired, so to celebrate what’s been done they recently released a powerhouse compilation. Check it out below and/or download the mix for FREE from their bandcamp. If you hear something you like, go see their next show!
Chicago’s Absolutely Not released a video for their track “Strictly Top” and it’s fantastic for several reasons. The song is great, it’s from a band that’s always been fun, this video is EVEN MORE fun, it features some wonderful folks from around the scene, and it’s message leans as a “humorous ‘Don’t judge me!’ declaration of LGBTQ sexuality in 2017.” NPR’s featuring the video alongside a slew of positive words, so check that out too. THEN, go see ’em live at the Bottle for their record release show on 7/29.
I absolutely LOVED Strychnine their first go-round, which ended a few years ago as its members pursued other projects… until TONIGHT, when they make their triumphant return to the stage at the Bottle. The rest of the line-up is solid, so should be a great night of tunes all around. Forget that it’s Sunday, or hell BECAUSE it’s Sunday, get out to the show!
One of my favorite problems about Chicago is how many amazing shows there are every day of the week, but that sometimes means I have to make a hard decision on where to spend my night. Tonight’s one of those nights, as a slew of great local bands celebrate the holiday and new releases. Check ’em out and head on out, and if you make your way to the Hideout seeyathere.
The Empty Bottle is hosting The Bingers (LP release), Peach Fuzz (EP release), and Glyders, and there’s no doubt in my mind it’s going to be a fantastic time. Click the pic for event details, and get familiar!
Over at The Hideout even more music is being released, as Dark Fog, Bionic Cavemen, and The Velcro Lewis Group hit the stage. This bill is too good to pass up, so I’ll be festively celebrating the good tunes here tonight. Come on out!
